St John's College

LINACRE LECTURE

Professor Andrew Wyllie, Professor of Pathology, will give the Linacre Lecture, entitled Apoptosis: cell death in living tissues, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, 6 May, in Physiology Lecture Theatre 1, Downing Street. Members of the University and others who are interested are welcome to attend.

FELLOWSHIPS AND COLLEGE LECTURESHIPS IN FRENCH AND IN MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited for (i) a College Lectureship in French and Fellowship at St John's College, tenable from 1 October 1999; (ii) a College Lectureship in Mathematics, in the field of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and Fellowship at St John's College, tenable from 1 October 1999. Both appointments will be for a period of three years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment for a further two years. The successful candidates will be required to undertake a maximum of twelve hours' teaching a week during Full Term.

The pensionable stipend for each position will be in the range £16,655 to £21,815 a year, with the usual privileges of a Fellow, including accommodation in College and meals at the Fellows' table. Applications, giving details of experience and qualifications and the names of two referees, should be sent to the Master, St John's College, Cambridge, CB2 1TP, from whom further details may be obtained. The closing dates for receipt of applications are 14 May 1999, for the position in French, and 21 May 1999, for the position in Mathematics.
