John Humphrey Plummer Professorship: Notice

The University intends to appoint a John Humphrey Plummer Professor, to take up appointment following the retirement of Professor R. Freeman on 1 October 1999, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications are invited from persons working within any field of study in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Science, or allied subjects other than those of interest to the Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research Campaign Institute (which will be the subject of a later advertisement). Potential applicants are strongly advised to make preliminary contact with the Head of the Department which they would wish to join if elected (probably one of the Departments of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Materials Science and Metallurgy, Physics, or other relevant Department). Applications should include a statement from the Head of the Department or Faculty that appropriate facilities and accommodation will be provided. The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University. The University follows an equal opportunities policy.

Candidates should send a copy of their application, marked 'Confidential', together with the names of two referees, to the Secretary General of the Faculties, at the General Board Division, University Offices, The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TT, so as to reach him not later than 30 June 1999.
