Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos, Part II, 2000: Notice

In their Report, dated 12 February 1999 (Reporter, p. 392), the Faculty Board of Biology proposed a revision of the regulations for Part II (General) of the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos, including a change in the title of the examination from Part II (General) to Part II. Subject to the approval of the recommendations of that Report, the Faculty Board of Biology now give notice, in accordance with Regulation 27 for the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos, of the following subjects, and restrictions on combinations of subjects, for Part II in 2000.

Subject to any restrictions announced in a particular year by the Faculty Board under the provisions of Regulation 27(a), candidates are required to offer in the examination for Part II of the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos:

(a) a combination of subjects comprising five written papers, provided that every candidate shall include among the subjects offered either one four-paper subject or at least one two-paper subject, and
(b) a dissertation, which shall be submitted in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 29.

All subjects make provision for candidates to offer a dissertation.

The subjects available for the examination in 2000 are listed below, together with the name of the Department offering the subject (which may be consulted for advice). If a minimum number of candidates is required before a subject can be offered, or if there is a limit on the number of candidates who can be accepted for a subject, this is indicated.
