FIXED-TERM DARBY FELLOWSHIP IN MODERN HISTORY

The College invites applications from graduates, either women or men, for a five-year fixed-term Darby Fellowship in Modern History from 1800, with effect from 1 October 1999 to 30 September 2004. Applicants are expected to be at an early stage of an academic career but should have some experience of teaching History at university level. Consideration will be given to research achievement and potential. The Fellow will be required to teach nineteenth- and twentieth-century General and British History including the Honour Moderations paper, General History 1815-1914, together with one of the Further and Special Subjects in the Final Honour School of Modern History, and one Optional Subject in Honour Moderations. The Fellow will also be required to share in the teaching of Historiography and Comparative History.

The salary ranges from £19,197 to £22,726 a year. Full Common-Room rights are given and accommodation in College may be offered coupled with wardenship duties. There are allowances towards teaching and research costs.
