BP Professorship of Petroleum Science: Notice

The Board of Electors to the BP Professorship of Petroleum Science invite applications for this newly established Professorship. British Petroleum Plc (BP) have made a benefaction to the University to support the formation of an interdisciplinary research institute to carry out fundamental research on multiphase flow in rocks and pipes involving collaboration with five Departments. The Departments are Earth Sciences, Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Engineering. The Institute will be attached to the Department of Earth Sciences, and the Professorship will be assigned to that Department, as host department. The Professor will take a leading role in developing teaching and research in petroleum science in the Institute and collaborating Departments. The appointment will be subject to the Statutes and Ordinances of the University. The University follows an equal opportunities policy.

The annual pensionable stipend for a Professor is £42,857.
