Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Oriental Studies Tripos

At the request of the Faculty Board of Oriental Studies, the General Board have approved amendments of the regulations for the Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Oriental Studies Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 225), as set out below. These amendments take immediate effect, and apply to the examination to be held in 1999. The Faculty Board have given an assurance that no candidate's preparation for the examination is adversely affected by these changes. The regulations have been amended as follows:

Regulation 2.

By amending the list of papers and other exercises from the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos which are available in the examination so as to read:

Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos

Papers B1 and B2 in any language; oral examination B; the papers specified in Schedule IA to the regulations for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 354).

Regulation 3.

By amending sub-paragraph (n) so as to read:

(nA modern European language B1, B2, and oral examination B in a modern European language, together with one paper relating to that language chosen from Schedule IA.
