REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos

The New Regulations for the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 346) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of these amendments is (a) to reinstate the requirement, which was inadvertently omitted when the New Regulations were introduced, that candidates for Part II should offer the same language in the oral examination and in at least one of the language papers, (b) to remove the restriction which prohibits candidates from offering both papers Li. 2 and Li. 7 in Part II, (c) to make Paper Sp. 10 (Introduction to Catalan language and literature) available in Part II as well as Part IB, and (d) to discontinue Paper Sp. 13 (A special period or subject in Spanish literature, life, or history). The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 October 1999, as follows:

Regulation 24.

By amending sub-paragraphs (a)(iv), (b)(iii), and (d)(iv) so as to read in each case:

SCHEDULE II

By amending the list of papers in Spanish so as to read:

By deleting the footnote attached to Papers Li. 2 and 7.
