Faculty of Music: Notice

STUDY DAY

Répertoire International d'Iconographie Musicale (RIdIM) UK, in partnership with the Royal Musical Association, will host a Study Day on Music Iconography on Saturday, 21 November, from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., in Lecture Room 2, Faculty of Music, 11 West Road, on the theme Picturing performance: music as symbolic image. The programme is as follows:

2-3 p.m. Zdravko Blažeković, City University of New York: From 'Dramma in musica' to 'Dramma in pittura'. Roy Thomas's and Gil Kane's comic strip of the 'Ring der Nibelungen'
3-4 p.m. Naomi Joy Barker, University of Newcastle upon Tyne: 'Diverse passions': Mode, interval, and affect in Poussin's paintings
4-4.30 p.m. Tea
4.30-5.30 p.m. Alessandra Iyer, University of Oxford: Iconography of dance: kara.na sculptures and dance practice in South and Southeast Asia
