Report of the General Board on the establishment of a Strategic Committee for the Natural Sciences Tripos: Notice

9 November 1998

The Council have considered the remarks made by Dr King at the Discussion of this Report on 13 October 1998 (Reporter, p. 68). Having noted that Dr King supported the proposal put forward in the Report for the establishment of a Strategic Committee for the Natural Sciences Tripos, they agreed to submit a Grace to the Regent House for the approval of the recommendations of the Report (Grace 6 of 21 October 1998).

Dr King's comments on the teaching of mathematics and on entry requirements in the subject have been referred to the Matriculation Board and the General Board. The latter have indicated that they will ask the new Strategic Committee, when established, to consider the questions that Dr King has raised in relation to the teaching of mathematics in the Natural Sciences Tripos.
