Annual Meetings of Faculties

Archaeology and Anthropology

The Chairman of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 9 November 1998, in the Seminar Room of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Downing Street. All members of the Faculty are invited to attend. Reports on the past year will be presented by the Chairman of the Faculty, Heads of the Departments of Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Social Anthropology, the Director of the McDonald Institute, the Director and Curator of the Museum, the Chairman of the Part I Teaching Committee, and the Haddon Librarian. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999 and two members to serve, from 1 January 1999, for the one and two remaining years respectively of the periods of tenure of their predecessors, Dr R. G. Abrahams and Dr H. E. Watson, who have resigned as members of the Faculty Board. The two retiring members, Dr C. A. I. French and Dr C. M. Hills, are eligible for re-election.

Nominations and notification of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, Downing Street not later than Friday, 6 November 1998.

Education

The Chairman of the Faculty of Education gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 3.45 p.m. on Thursday, 19 November 1998, at the School of Education, Shaftesbury Road. The business of the meeting will include the election of three members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve from 1 January 1999, two to serve for four years in place of the retiring members Dr C. Conner and Mr T. Everton, both of whom are eligible for re-election, and one to serve for two years to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr M. Dadds.

Nominations for these elections, signed by the proposer and seconder and by the nominee indicating willingness to serve if elected, and notice of any other business should be sent to the Secretary of the Faculty of Education, 17 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA, to reach her not later than Wednesday, 11 November 1998.

English

The Chairman of the Faculty of English gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 12 November 1998, in Seminar Room 3, History Faculty Building, West Road. The main business of the meeting will be to elect one member of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations for this election and notice of any other business for the meeting should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board at the Faculty Office, 9 West Road, to arrive not later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, 5 November 1998.

History

The Chairman of the Faculty of History gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday 17 November 1998, in Seminar Room 3 in the Faculty of History. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c) four members of the Faculty Board in class (c), two to serve for four years, one to serve for two years, and one to serve for one year from 1 January 1999.

Other business will be to consider the Reports of the Tripos and Preliminary Examiners and matters arising therefrom, the Seeley Library Report 1997-98, and any other business.

Nomination forms, signed by the nominee, the proposer and seconder, should reach the Secretary at the History Faculty Office, West Road, not later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 10 November.
