Applications are invited for this Research Fellowship, the purpose of which is to assist advanced students of exceptional merit to pursue their research in any one of the following topics: contemporary Greek history; British foreign policy in the Eastern Mediterranean; the Eastern Question during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; any other historical subject connected with the writings, ideas, views, or policies of Sir Winston Churchill associated with the foregoing geographical area; comparative or European Community law or institutions. The Fellowship is open to women and men, with no age limit, and may be awarded either to the holder of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from any university, or to a person registered as a candidate for the Ph.D. degree in the University of Cambridge. Applications from Greek citizens are particularly encouraged. The Fellowship is tenable for a period of two years from 1 October 1999 and may be extended in exceptional circumstances for a further period of one year.
