Promotions to personal Professorships and Readerships: Notice

26 October 1998

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE GENERAL BOARD ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PERSONAL PROFESSORSHIPS AND READERSHIPS

The Council have considered the remarks made at the Discussion of the General Board's Annual Report on 13 October 1998 (Reporter, p. 65), and have referred them to the General Board.

The General Board have noted that the three speakers did not oppose the recommendations of the present Report, and that they were concerned with the procedure followed in the promotions exercise and modifications of that procedure for future exercises. The Board have therefore asked the Council to submit a Grace to the Regent House for the approval of the recommendations of their Report, and the Council have agreed to do this (Grace 2, p. 100).

REPORT OF THE GENERAL BOARD ON THE PROCEDURE FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PERSONAL PROFESSORSHIPS AND READERSHIPS IN 1999 AND SUBSEQUENT YEARS

The General Board are about to publish a Report on the procedure for future promotions exercises; this Report is due to appear in an additional number of the Reporter, to be published on Friday, 30 October. The Council have asked the Board to include in that Report any comments on points made in the Discussion that they wish to bring to the attention of the Regent House; the Council intend to publish a further Notice in due course commenting on those points which fall within the remit of the Council rather than the Board.
