Annual Meetings of Faculties

Architecture and History of Art

The Chairman of the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 November 1998, in the Classroom at the Department of Architecture, 1-5 Scroope Terrace. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), two members in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations for election and notice of any other business for the meeting should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Architecture and History of Art, Scroope Terrace, by Friday, 6 November.

Classics

The Chairman of the Faculty of Classics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 12 November 1998 in Room G.19 in the Classics Faculty Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The main business will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations for these elections and notice of any other business for the meeting should be sent in writing to the Secretary, Faculty of Classics, Sidgwick Avenue, to arrive not later than 5 November 1998.

Clinical Veterinary Medicine

The Chairman of the Faculty of Clinical Veterinary Medicine gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 17 November 1998, in the Committee Room of the Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Madingley Road. The main business will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2, to serve for four years from 1 January 1999. The retiring members are Professor W. F. Blakemore and Mr J. E. F. Houlton.

Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, and accompanied by a statement of consent from the person nominated, together with notice of any other business, should reach the Secretary, Dr V. Chamberlain, at the Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Madingley Road, not later than 12 November 1998.

Divinity

The Chairman of the Faculty of Divinity gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 19 November 1998 in the Lightfoot Room of the Divinity School. The business of the meeting will include the Chairman's report, the report by the Director of CARTS, and election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of three members of the Faculty Board in class (c), two to serve for four years and one for three years.

Nominations for election in class (c) must be seconded and the consent of the candidate obtained in advance, and should reach the Administrative Officer, Ms R. M. Paul, at the Divinity School, St John's Street, Cambridge, CB2 1TW, not later than Monday, 9 November 1998. Notice of any matter connected with the work of the Faculty which a member wishes to be discussed should reach Ms Paul by the same date.

Economics and Politics

The Chairman of the Faculty of Economics and Politics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 16 November 1998, in the Meade Room, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue. The Agenda for the meeting will be circulated to each member of the Faculty. One of the items of business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), three members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999 and one member in class (c) to serve for two years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations in writing, signed by the proposer, together with an indication of the nominee's willingness to serve, should reach the Secretary, Dr D. Robertson, Faculty of Economics and Politics, Austin Robinson Building, Sidgwick Avenue, by 5 p.m. on Thursday, 12 November. It would be convenient if notice of any other business that members wish to be discussed were also sent in writing to the Secretary by 5 p.m. on 9 November.

Engineering

The Chairman of the Faculty of Engineering gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, 11 November 1998, in Lecture Room 6, Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street. Ballot boxes will be available in the Press Site and the Whittle Laboratory. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of five members in class (c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations and notice of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary, Dr J. H. Brunton, at the Department of Engineering to reach him not later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, 5 November 1998.

Law

The Chairman of the Faculty of Law gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 19 November 1998 in the Moot Court Room, Faculty of Law, 10 West Road. The main items of business will be the Chairman's annual report and the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Mathematics

The Chairman of the Faculty of Mathematics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 19 November 1998 in Room A of the Arts School, Bene't Street. The main item of business will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of five members of the Faculty Board in class (c), to serve from 1 January 1999. (Two vacancies arise from retirement and are for four years; two are casual vacancies, for two years; and one is a casual vacancy, for one year).

Nominations for these elections should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Mathematics, Faculty Office, Room F19B, Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Silver Street, not later than noon on Thursday, 12 November. Nominations should be in writing, should bear the signatures of the proposer and seconder, and should contain a signed statement by the nominee that he/she would consent to serve if elected. Any further items for the agenda should reach the Secretary by the same date.

Modern and Medieval Languages

The Chairman of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 16 November 1998, in the Little Hall, Sidgwick Avenue. Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of three members in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations, duly seconded and accompanied by a statement of the nominee's consent to nomination, and notice of any other business for this meeting should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board at Sidgwick Avenue before Tuesday, 10 November 1998.

Music

The Chairman of the Faculty of Music gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, 12 November 1998, in the Concert Hall, West Road. Among the business to be transacted will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of one member of the Faculty Board to serve for four years from 1 January 1999. Nominations for the election and notice of any other business should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board, Mrs S. C. Round, at the Faculty of Music, 11 West Road, not later than Thursday, 5 November.

Physics and Chemistry

The Chairman of the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Friday, 20 November 1998, in the Seminar Room, Institute of Astronomy, Madingley Road. The main business will be the election of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999. The retiring members are Dr R. J. Butcher and Dr J. H. Keeler.

Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, should reach the Secretary at the Institute of Astronomy not later than Monday, 9 November. Notice of any other business should reach the Secretary by the same date.
