Corpus Christi College

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN HISTORY

The Colleges invite applications for a Research Fellowship in any branch of History since 400 AD, tenable for four years from 1 October 1999. For the first two years its holder will be a P. S. Allen Junior Research Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and for the second two years a Research Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. The Fellowship is open to men and women graduates of any university who on 1 October 1999 will not have completed more than five years of research.

The stipend while in Oxford will be £13,930 a year. The Fellow will be given free rooms in College or a study and a housing allowance in lieu. The Fellow will be permitted to undertake a limited amount of teaching, for which payment will be made at the usual rates. Full membership of the Senior Common Room, some free meals, and research and hospitality allowances are attached to the Fellowship. While in Cambridge, the stipend will be £14,585 a year. Rent-free accommodation or a living-out allowance where appropriate will be offered to the Fellow, whether married or single. There is no obligation to teach, but the Fellow will be permitted to teach up to six hours a week for additional remuneration. Other customary privileges of Fellowship also apply.
