Annual Meetings of Faculties

Biology

The Chairman of the Faculty of Biology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 16 November 1998, in the Main Lecture Theatre of the Department of Physiology, Downing Street. The main business is to elect four members of the Faculty Board in class (c) (Statute C, IV, 2(c)) in accordance with a procedure approved by the Faculty by which one of those elected is nominated by the Department of Anatomy, one by the Department of Pathology, one by the Department of Pharmacology, and one by the Department of Physiology. The representative of the Department of Physiology will serve until 31 December 1999. The representative of the Department of Anatomy will serve until 31 December 2000. The representatives of the Departments of Pathology and Pharmacology will serve until 31 December 2002. The retiring members are Professor W. Harris (Anatomy), Dr Y. W. Loke (Pathology), Dr S. B. Hladky (Pharmacology), and Dr R. Barnes (Physiology).

Nominations, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, signed by the proposer and seconder, together with notice of any other business, should be sent to the Secretary, Miss Louise Woollard, 19 Trumpington Street, to arrive not later than Monday, 9 November 1998. If there is a contested election the Single Transferable Vote Regulations will apply (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 123).

Copies of the Agenda will be posted in Departments in the Faculty.

Earth Sciences and Geography

The Chairman of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Geography gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 November 1998, in the Seminar Room of the Department of Geography, Downing Place. The main business will be to elect three members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, and accompanied by the consent of the person nominated, together with notice of any other business, should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board, at the Department of Earth Sciences, Downing Site, no later than Tuesday, 3 November 1998.

Oriental Studies

The Chairman of the Faculty of Oriental Studies gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 November 1998, in Lecture Room L1, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Sidgwick Avenue. The main business of the meeting will be to elect two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1999; the retiring members are Dr C. P. Melville, PEM, and Dr D. F. H. Whittaker, CLH.

Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, and notice of any business which a member wishes to be discussed, should be sent to the Secretary, Mrs D. M. Bennett, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge CB3 9DA, so as to reach her not later than Friday, 6 November.

Philosophy

The Chairman of the Faculty of Philosophy gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 23 November 1998, in Room 111, Faculty of Classics, Sidgwick Avenue. The main business will be the election of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1999.

Nominations for these elections, and notice of any other business, should reach the Secretary, Mrs A. Elliott, at the Philosophy Faculty Office, Room 13, Raised Faculty Building, Sidgwick Avenue, by Friday, 13 November 1998.
