Sims Fund and Scholarship: Notice

Statutes and Ordinances, 1998, pp. 685 and 820

A Sims Scholarship will next be offered, for outstanding merit and promise in Physics or Chemistry, for tenure for up to three years from October 2001. The annual value will be comparable with that of a Research Council award, including College and University fees. Details of the procedures for application will be annouced in the Michaelmas Term 2000.

The Managers of the fund will be in a position to make grants before then, particularly for a lesser period than three years, to Graduate Students who are ineligible for a Scholarship by reason of not being graduates of the University but who either (a) were born in Great Britain or Northern Ireland or (b) are the child of parents who were British subjects at the date of birth.

Applications for such grants will be considered from students in any of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Medicine. Applications, with a full statement of the applicant's proposed research, academic record and financial position, and the names of at least two referees, should be sent to the Registrary at the University Registry, Old Schools, Cambridge CB2 1TN by 30 April 1999.
