LL.M. Examination, 1999: Notice

The Faculty Board of Law have prescribed the following papers for the LL.M. Examination to be held in 1999 (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 426):

 1. Taxation.
 2. International commercial litigation.
 3. Conflict of laws.
 4. The law of restitution.
 5. International sales.
 7. History of English civil and criminal law, 1154-1485.
 8. History of English civil and criminal law, 1485-1710.
 9. Law and practice of civil liberties.
10. Public law.
11. Jurisprudence.
13. Comparative law.
16. Intellectual property.
17. European private law.
19. Private law and political theory.
21. Law of peace.
22. International human rights law.
23. Law of armed conflict, use of force, and peacekeeping.
24. Settlement of international disputes.
26 . Issues in European Economic Law.
27. Competition law.
29. Family law and policy.
30. Philosophy of criminal law.
31. Commercial insurance law.
32. Modern legal history.
33. External relations law of the European Union.
34. Civil and social rights in the European Union.
36. Advanced Trust Law.
37. The WTO and international economic law.

The Board have agreed to designate as papers which fall within the fields of International Law, Commercial Law, and European Law the following:

International Law (i): Papers 21-24, 37
Commercial Law (c): Papers 1-2, 4-5, 16, 26, 31, 37
European Law (e): Papers 2, 13, 17, 26-27, 33-34

Candidates will not be permitted to offer both Paper 2, International commercial litigation, and Paper 3, Conflict of laws, in the LL.M. Examination 1999.

The Faculty Board of Law also give notice (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 426) that in the LL.M. Examination, 1999, the form of examination will be:

(a) A written paper of three hours' duration: Papers 1-5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23-24, 26-27, 30-31, 33-34, and 36.

(b) Either a written paper of three hours' duration or a written paper of two hours' duration together with the submission of an essay of not more than 7,000 words, including footnotes and appendices, but excluding the bibliography: Papers 8-10, 16, 22, 29, 32, and 37.
