Election, appointments, and reappointments

The following election, appointments, and reappointments have been made:

Election

Professor A. H. Wyllie, B.Sc., M.B., Ch.B., Ph.D., Aberdeen, F.R.C.Path., F.R.C.P.Ed., F.R.S.Ed., F.R.S., Professor of Experimental Pathology, Head of Department, and Co-director, CRC Laboratories, Department of Pathology, University of Edinburgh, has been elected Professor of Pathology from 1 October 1998.

Appointments

University Lecturer

Chemical Engineering (amendment). Dr A. P. J. Middelberg has been appointed from 1 July 1998 for three years, not 1 September 1998 as announced in Reporter, p. 257.

Engineering. Mr T. W. Ridgman, B.Sc., Southampton, appointed from 1 March 1998 for three years.

Philosophy (correction to p. 527). Mr P. J. Smith, M.A., T, appointed from 15 April 1998 for three years.

Radiology. Mr C. S. Ng, M.A., CHR, M.Eng., M.B.B.S., London, F.R.C.P., appointed from 1 September 1998 for five years.

Assistant Treasurer

University offices. (Finance Division). Mrs A. R. Searle appointed from 5 January 1998 for three years.

Research Officer

Applied Economics (correction to p. 568). Mrs Y. Y. Fincham, B.Sc., CNNA, M.Sc., Keele, M.Sc., Ph.D., London, appointed from 1 April 1998 to 30 June 2000.

Acting Heads of Departments

Archaeology. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, have appointed Dr C. M. Hills, N, Acting Head of the Department from 1 October 1998 to 30 September 1999.

French. The General Board, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Modern and Medieval Languages, have appointed Professor P. J. Bayley, CAI, Acting Head of the Department from 1 January 1999 to 30 June 1999.

Reappointments

Earth Sciences. Dr S. A. Gibson reappointed from 1 April 1998 to the retiring age. Dr D. M. Pyle, CTH, reappointed from 1 October 1998 to the retiring age.
