Commonwealth Travelling Scholarships, Long Vacation 1998

In collaboration with the Malaysian Commonwealth Studies Centre, the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust proposes to offer a number of travelling scholarships for students at the University of Cambridge who intend to visit a country of the Commonwealth in the Long Vacation 1998, preferably as part of their undergraduate studies or, exceptionally, graduate studies where the applicant is not eligible for a grant from the Smuts Memorial Fund for the advancement of Commonwealth Studies.

The Commonwealth Travelling Scholarships will normally be of a fixed amount of £600.

Preference will be given to candidates intending to visit a Commonwealth country for not more than ten weeks.

The Commonwealth Travelling Scholars will be expected to submit a brief report on their visit to a Commonwealth country.

Rajiv Gandhi Travelling Scholarships to India, Long Vacation 1998

In collaboration with the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation proposes to offer up to eight travelling scholarships for students at the University of Cambridge who intend to visit India in the Long Vacation 1998, preferably as part of their undergraduate or graduate studies, or for broader academic purposes.

The Rajiv Gandhi Travelling Scholarships will include up to one week's initial accommodation free of cost in New Delhi (arranged by the Foundation), a Rupee allowance towards expenses in India, and a contribution towards rail travel in India, together with a contribution of £300 towards travel to and from India.

Preference will be given to candidates intending to visit India for not more than ten weeks.

The Rajiv Gandhi Travelling Scholars will be expected to submit a brief report on their visit to India.

Application forms for both scholarships are available from Senior Tutors of Colleges or, in case of difficulty, from the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, Trinity College, Cambridge.

The deadline for the receipt of applications is Tuesday, 12 May 1998.
