Director of the MBA Programme in the Judge Institute of Management Studies

The Judge Institute wishes to appoint a Director of the MBA Programme. Candidates should be persons of academic distinction who can demonstrate a strong interest and record of achievement in the application of their discipline to management and business, together with proven qualities of leadership and academic management.

The appointment will be from 1 July 1998, or as soon as possible thereafter, and will be for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of reappointment for a further period or periods. The stipend will be at Professorial level; the present pensionable stipend for a Professor is £41,288 a year.

Associate Dean in the Faculty of Clinical Medicine

Associate Dean in the Faculty of Clinical Medicine to take up appointment as soon as possible after 1 August 1998, to undertake special responsibilities in relation to the pre-registration year. The appointment will be part-time; the equivalent of 4.5 NHS sessions are available. Although residence in Cambridge will not be required, there will be advantages if the clinical duties of the successful applicant are in or near Cambridge. The appointment will be for a period not exceeding five years in the first instance.

The pensionable stipend will be related, pro rata, to the salary scale for NHS Consultants, £43,750 to £56,470 a year. A stipend above the minimum may be recommended.

Two University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers in the Judge Institute of Management Studies

Two University Lecturers or University Assistant Lecturers in the Judge Institute of Management Studies in the fields listed below, to take up appointment on 1 September 1998 or as soon as possible thereafter. Candidates for either position should demonstrate strong academic ability, an interest in the application of their studies to management and business, and a strong commitment to and enthusiasm for both teaching and research.

(i) Accounting: Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in teaching and research in financial or management accounting. Industrial experience is desirable and a professional qualification would be an advantage. Informal enquiries should be made to Professor M. A. H. (ii) Organizational Behaviour, or Organizational Development, or Management Practice: Candidates should have an academic background in organizational behaviour, human resource management, sociology, or psychology, and should be able to demonstrate an ability to use experiential learning methods in teaching about personal, group, and organizational development. The appointments will be made at either University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer level, depending on the age and experience of the person appointed, and will be for a fixed term in the first instance, with the possibility, for a University Lecturer, of reappointment to the retiring age. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lectureship is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure.

The pensionable scales of stipends are:

University Lecturer: £19,371 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £29,875.
There is no grade of Senior Lecturer.
University Assistant Lecturer: £16,045 a year, rising by six annual increments to £21,016.

The appointment will be made at either University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer level, depending on the age and experience of the person appointed, and will be for three years, with the possibility, for a University Lecturer, of reappointment to the retiring age or, for a University Assistant Lecturer of reappointment for two years. The statutory limit of tenure of a University Assistant Lectureship is five years, but all holders of the office of University Assistant Lecturer are considered for possible appointment to the office of University Lecturer during the course of their tenure.

The pensionable scales of stipends are:

University Lecturer: £19,371 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £29,875.
