Candidates are required to offer in the examination for Part II (General) of the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos:
either | two Special Subjects and one Elective Subject, |
or | one Special Subject, one subject from Part IB of the Natural Sciences Tripos, one Elective Subject, |
and | a dissertation or project report associated with either one of the Special Subjects or one of the Elective Subjects. |
Not all Special Subjects or Elective Subjects make provision for candidates to offer a dissertation; this limits the possible combinations of subjects that candidates may choose. The subjects in which a dissertation may be offered are indicated below by the symbol (d).
The subjects available are listed below, together with the name of the Department offering the subject (which may be consulted for advice). If a minimum number of candidates is required before a subject can be offered, or if there is a limit on the number of candidates who can be accepted for a subject, this is indicated.

Candidates and their advisers are asked to note that the reference numbers used in this Notice are those notified to Colleges in the Lent Term as part of the procedure for admission to restricted subjects. The code numbers to be used for examination entries, which will follow a different system, will be issued by the Board of Examinations in the Michaelmas Term.
