Flying of the University flag: Notice
The University Offices receive many requests for guidance as to the occasions on which the University flag should be flown from University buildings. The Vice-Chancellor publishes for information the following list of dates on which the flag will normally be flown from the Old Schools:

St George's Day |

Birthday of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh |
4 August |
Birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother |
1 October |
Beginning of the academical year (or 2 October when 1 October falls on a Sunday) |
14 November |
Birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales |
In addition, notice will in future be given of other variable dates on which flags may be flown, such as occasions of visits by the Chancellor, the official birthday of HM The Queen, the days of General Admission and of Congregations for the conferment of Honorary Degrees, and days of national rejoicing.
The following are the variable dates that will be observed until the end of this academical year:
