The Administrators also invite applications from individual Cambridge undergraduates for grants to enable them to study or assist in research within the subjects specified above for about eight weeks during the Long Vacation. They do this in the hope that experience of this kind may help undergraduates, as potential research workers, in their choice of subject at a later date. Applicants should therefore be undergraduates whose intention is to do research after they graduate. This means that applications for expeditions will rarely qualify. In their applications, candidates should include the subject of the proposed work, their academic qualifications, the laboratory accommodation available, and proposed arrangements for supervision. The application should be forwarded to the candidate's Director of Studies who is requested to add comments.
Applications must be sent, marked 'Durham Fund Application', to the Tutorial Office, King's College, Cambridge, CB2 1ST, so as to reach us not later than Friday, 1 May 1998. It is hoped to inform successful candidates by the end of May.
