Pembroke College and the Centre for Communications Systems Research

RESEARCH FELLOW IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND HUMAN GENOME RESEARCH

Pembroke College and the Centre for Communications Systems Research (CCSR) at the University of Cambridge have an opening for a Research Fellow to work on projects chosen at his or her discretion in the area of Information Technology applied to Human Genome Research. The successful applicant will be appointed a Senior Research Fellow of the College and an Industrial Research Fellow at CCSR. He or she will also be appointed a visitor to the European Biological Institute (EBI) at Hinxton Genome Campus, an outstation of the world-wide effort to identify and classify the human genomes. A Post-doctoral Fellow will be appointed to work with and under the direction of the Research Fellow.

 The Fellow will concentrate primarily on his or her research, and will become Director of Studies for Computer Science in Pembroke College. This will involve College administrative and teaching responsibilities up to a maximum of six hours per week. Her or his main place of work will be at CCSR in central Cambridge (very close to Pembroke College). CCSR is a research venture funded entirely by industry with strong roots in information technology and computer communications. Access to EBI as a visitor has been arranged. EBI is in Hinxton, about 20 kilometres to the south of Cambridge. The post may offer additional opportunities of cooperative work with centres of artificial intelligence research in North America.

 Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsors this post. The appointment is for five years, with a review after the first year and the third year.
