Historical Tripos, Part II, 1998: Notice
On the recommendation of the Faculty Board of History, the General Board have agreed to authorize the Examiners for Part II of the Historical Tripos in 1998 to set an additional paper, numbered Paper 22, under the title 'Deviance, law, and social order in England, 1750-1939', on condition that candidature for that paper is restricted to Ms P. E. Ronan, of St John's College. A paper on that subject was set in the 1997 examination, but it was made clear, in the announcement of subjects for 1998, that it would be discontinued thereafter (see Reporter, 1995-96, p. 898). Ms Ronan was wrongly advised that the paper would be available in 1998, and she has been preparing to offer it in the examination this year. The General Board have received a plea of incuria from Ms Ronan's Tutor.
