Management Studies Syndicate: Notice

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Management Studies Syndicate, they have amended the regulations for the Syndicate (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 575) as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is to enlarge the membership of the Syndicate by making all the Professors in the Judge Institute members of the Syndicate ex officio, up to a maximum of five. The regulations have been amended, with effect from 1 January 1998, as follows:

Regulation 1.

 By amending sub-paragraph (b) so as to read:

(b) the Professors assigned to the Judge Institute of Management Studies, provided that, if there are more than five Professors so assigned, there shall be five persons in class (b), elected by all those Professors from among their own number;

 By deleting sub-paragraph (c), relettering sub-paragraphs (d)-(n) as (c)-(m), and amending cross references accordingly.

Regulation 2.

 By amending the regulation so as to read:

 2. An election of members in class (b), if required, shall be held in the Michaelmas Term each year; the members so elected shall serve for one year from 1 January following the election. An election of members in class (j) shall be held in the Michaelmas Term each year; members so elected shall serve for two years from 1 January following the election. The procedure for such elections shall be that prescribed in the Single Transferable Vote Regulations, except that the returning officer shall be the Chairman of the Syndicate or, in the absence of the Chairman, a duly appointed deputy, subject to the approval of the General Board.
