Voltaire Foundation, Oxford

EXPERIENCED DESK EDITOR

We are a small department of the University of Oxford specializing in the preparation and production of scholarly editions, in French and English, of works by authors of the French and European Enlightenment. To achieve our ambitious publishing programme we need to recruit an experienced Desk Editor who will contribute to the management of in-house and out-of-house editorial production of a number of volumes and texts belonging to our major editions and series. Essential qualifications are: a sound experience of academic publishing procedures; a comprehensive knowledge of written French; an appreciation of and a sharp eye for detail; and good interpersonal skills. It would also be advantageous to have a background in the humanities with an interest in the eighteenth century, and some knowledge of the principles of SGML coding.  The post will be at the level of Academic-related Research Staff Grade 1B: salary £15,159-£19,371 a year.
