Natural Sciences Tripos, Part IB, Mineral Sciences

The regulations for the Natural Sciences Tripos (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 358) have been amended as set out below. The purpose of the amendments is to introduce a requirement for continuously assessed practical work in the subject Mineral Sciences in Part IB, in place of the present practical examination. The Faculty Board of Earth Sciences and Geography and the Committee for the Natural Sciences Tripos are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 1998 is adversely affected by this change. The regulations have been amended, with immediate effect, as follows:

Regulation 21(b).

By transferring the subject Mineral Sciences from sub-paragraph (i) to sub-paragraph (ii).

Regulation 21(c).

By inserting in sub-paragraph (iii), after the words 'Materials Science and Metallurgy', the words 'Mineral Sciences'.
