Annual Meetings of Faculties

Archaeology and Anthropology

The Chairman of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, 10 November 1997, in the Seminar Room of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Downing Street. All members of the Faculty are invited to attend. Reports on the past year will be presented by the Chairman of the Faculty, the Heads of the Departments of Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Social Anthropology, the Director of the McDonald Institute, the Director and Curator of the Museum, the Chairman of the Part I Teaching Committee, and the Haddon Librarian.

 Elections will be held, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2 (c), of two members of the Faculty Board in class (c) to serve for four years from 1 January 1998, and one member to serve, from 1 January 1998, for the three remaining years of the period of tenure of his or her predecessor, Dr C. Humphrey, who has resigned as a member of the Faculty Board. The two retiring members, Dr M. L. S. Sørensen and Dr J. K. Hart, are eligible for re-election.

 Nominations and notification of any other business should be sent in writing to the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Archaeology and Anthropology, Downing Street, not later than Friday, 7 November.

Biology

The Chairman of the Faculty of Biology gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Monday, 17 November 1997, in the Main Lecture Theatre of the Department of Physiology, Downing Street. The main business is to elect three members of the Faculty Board in class (c) (Statute C, IV, 2(c)) in accordance with a procedure approved by the Faculty by which one of those elected is nominated by the Department of Experimental Psychology, one by the Department of Biochemistry, and one by the Department of Genetics. The representative of the Department of Biochemistry will serve until 31 December 2000. The representatives of the Departments of Experimental Psychology and Biochemistry will serve until 31 December 2001. The retiring members are Dr D. J. Ellar (Biochemistry), Professor B. J. Everitt (Experimental Psychology), and Professor M. Evans (Genetics).

 Nominations, for which the consent of the candidate must be obtained, signed by the proposer and seconder, together with notice of any other business, should be sent to the Secretary, Miss Louise Woollard, 19 Trumpington Street, to arrive not later than Monday, 10 November 1997. If there is a contested election the Single Transferable Vote Regulations will apply (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 120).

 Copies of the Agenda will be posted in Departments in the Faculty.

Education

The Chairman of the Faculty of Education gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, 20 November 1997, in the Conference Hall, School of Education, Shaftesbury Road. The main item of business will be to elect one member of the Faculty Board in class (c), in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1998 in place of the retiring member Ms M. J. Drummond who is eligible for re-election.

 Nominations, signed by the proposer and seconder, and accompanied by the consent of the person nominated, and notice of any other business for the meeting, should reach the Secretary of the Faculty, Mrs G. Morley, at the School of Education, 17 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1QA, not later than Friday, 14 November 1997.

History

The Chairman of the Faculty of History gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday, 18 November 1997, in Seminar Room 3 in the Faculty of History. The main business will be to elect, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), two members of the Faculty Board in class (c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1998. Other business will be to consider the Reports of the Tripos and Preliminary Examiners and matters arising therefrom, the Seeley Library Report 1996-97, and any other business.

 Nomination forms, signed by the proposer and seconder, should reach the Secretary at the History Faculty Office, West Road, not later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 11 November.

Mathematics

The Chairman of the Faculty of Mathematics gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2.15 p.m. on Thursday, 20 November 1997, in Room A of the Arts School, Bene't Street. One of the main items of business will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of three members of the Faculty Board in class (c), to serve for four years from 1 January 1998. The other item of business will be a discussion of the structure of Part II of the Mathematical Tripos.

 Nominations for these elections should reach the Secretary of the Faculty Board of Mathematics, Dr V. C. Chamberlain, Faculty Office, Room F19B, Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Silver Street, not later than noon on Thursday, 13 November. Nominations should be in writing, should bear the signatures of the proposer and seconder, and should contain a signed statement by the nominee that he or she would consent to serve if elected. Any further items for the agenda should reach Dr Chamberlain by the same date.

Music

The Chairman of the Faculty of Music gives notice that the Annual Meeting of the Faculty will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, 13 November 1997, in the Concert Hall, West Road. Among the business to be transacted will be the election, in accordance with Statute C, IV, 2(c), of two members of the Faculty Board to serve for four years, and of one member to serve for two years, from 1 January 1998.

 Nominations for these elections and notice of any other business for the meeting should reach the Administrative Secretary, Faculty of Music, 11 West Road, not later than Thursday, 6 November.
