Faculty of English

A FESTIVAL OF AUSTRALIAN AND COMMONWEALTH LITERATURE

The following events will take place in a Festival of Australian and Commonwealth Literature. This is a joint celebration with Anglia Polytechnic University, and is supported by the Judith E. Wilson Fund of the Faculty of English, the British Council, the Arts Council of Great Britain, and the Australian Council for the Arts as part of their New Images tour.

Saturday, 18 October, at 8 p.m. in the School of Pythagoras Theatre, St John's College. The Ghanaian-Caribbean dub poet Kwame Dawes will perform from Jacko Jacobus, Requiem, and work in progress. This will be followed at 9.30 p.m. by music (Drum and Bass). Combined ticket at the door: £3 (£2 for Anglia Literary Society members).

Monday, 27 October, at 9 p.m. in the Club Room, Churchill College. Readings by Dorothy Porter, Christos Tsiolkas, and Sam Watson.

Wednesday, 29 October, at 9 p.m. in the Club Room, Churchill College. Readings by Robert Drewe, Fotini Epanomitis, and Justine Ettler.

Saturday, 1 November, at 9 p.m. in the Wolfson Theatre, Churchill College. George Steiner will give a lecture entitled Why is poetic translation so flourishing today?

Sunday, 2 November, at 9 p.m. in the Club Room, Churchill College. Readings by John Tranter, Michael Schmidt, and Imtiaz Dharker. This is a joint meeting with the Marlowe Society. For details of tickets see below.
