John Stewart of Rannoch Greek and Latin Fund: Notice

The Faculty Board of Classics beg leave to report to the University, in accordance with Regulation 9 for the John Stewart of Rannoch Greek and Latin Fund (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 827), that they have agreed to make available the sum of up to £35,000 from the Fund during the academical year 1997-98 for the provision of Mrs Handley's classes mentioned below and of other specialized teaching of Greek and Latin, and for the improvement of services in the Classics Faculty Library.

ANCIENT GREEK FOR BEGINNERS, 1997-98

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Classics gives notice that Mrs C. M. Handley proposes to give a course in Ancient Greek for beginners. There will be a meeting at 5 p.m. on Friday, 10 October in Room 2.03 in the Classics Faculty Building, Sidgwick Avenue, at which details of the course will be distributed. Classes will begin on Tuesday, 14 October, and will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays during Full Term in Room 2.03 in the Classics Faculty Building.

LATIN FOR NON-CLASSICISTS, 1997-98

The Chairman of the Faculty Board of Classics gives notice that Dr N. Wright proposes to give a course in Latin for non-classicists. It is vital to attend the first meeting on Thursday, 9 October at 5 p.m. in Room G. 19 in the Classics Faculty Building. Classes will be held at 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during Full Term in Room 2.04 in the Classics Faculty Building.

 These courses will be open to all members of the University who are interested. Anyone who wishes to attend, but is unable to be present at the meetings, is asked to telephone the Faculty Office (3)-35152.
