The Judge Institute of Management Studies

As part of its continuing growth, the Judge Institute invites applications for the following posts:

PART-TIME APPOINTMENT IN PUBLIC SECTOR MANAGEMENT

The Appointments Committee hopes soon to be in a position to appoint a half-time (50 per cent.) Lecturer in Public Sector Management with special reference to the Prison Service, to be part of a team developing a new part-time postgraduate Diploma/Master's degree in Management, Penology and Criminology for senior prison managers.

 Appointment will be made at either University Lecturer or University Assistant Lecturer level, depending on the age and experience of the person appointed, and will be from 1 January 1998 for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of re-appointment for a further period or periods. The current scale of stipends for full-time University Lecturers is in the range of £19,371-£29,875 a year, according to age and experience, and in the range £16,045-£21,016 for University Assistant Lecturers.

NUFFIELD FELLOW IN HEALTH POLICY

The Institute wishes to appoint a research associate to provide research support to a newly established Planning and Evaluation Advisory Group for the Nuffield Trust. Candidates should have a higher degree or equivalent research experience, and be skilled in policy analysis, information technology, report writing, data collection, analysis, and presentation. A background in public health, economics, social science, history or political science would be desirable. The research will be under the supervision of Dr Pam Garside and Professor Sandra Dawson.

 Salary, according to age and experience, will be in the range of £15,159 to £27,985 a year. The appointment will be for one year in the first instance, renewable for a further two years.
