TREVELYAN CODRINGTON (TREVOR) GARDNER, C.B.E., M.A., Honorary Fellow of Darwin and Robinson Colleges, Emeritus Fellow of Wolfson College, and University Treasurer Emeritus, died on Wednesday, 24 September 1997, aged 80 years.

FREDERICK HANLEY, O.B.E., M.A., Fellow of St John's College, Emeritus Reader in Crop Husbandry, died on Tuesday, 9 September 1997, aged 97 years.

Sir JOHN COWDERY KENDREW, C.B.E., Sc.D., Hon.LL.D., F.R.S., Honorary Fellow of Trinity College and of Peterhouse, died on Saturday, 23 August 1997, aged 80 years.

JOHN POWELL MARTIN, M.A., formerly Fellow of King's College and Assistant Director of Research in Criminology, died on Sunday, 17 August 1997, aged 71 years.

DRUMMOND HOYLE (DRUM) MATTHEWS, M.A., Ph.D., F.R.S., formerly Fellow of King's College and Reader in Marine Geology, died on Sunday, 20 July 1997, aged 66 years.
