This touring exhibition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder and first President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), Sir Francis Seymour Haden (1818-1910). See a selection of prints, ranging from Haden to work by current RE members.

Highlight Stuart Pearson Wright: Halfboy

Stuart Pearson Wright (b. 1975) won the BP Portrait Award for Gallus Gallus with Still Life and Presidents and was awarded a commission to paint J. K. Rowling for the collection of NPG. Halfboy came about as a result of a chance encounter with a box of childhood photographs, a rare find as most such mementos were lost due to the peripatetic lifestyle imposed by the artist’s mother in the 1980s.

Chineke! Chamber Ensemble

Chineke!’s return is particularly special since it marks a rare concert in The Senate House. On stage, they exude energy and infectious enthusiasm. And their concerts always include at least one popular favourite as well as opening our eyes to the wonderful, yet neglected, music of black composers. The event will also include the world premiere of a new piece by Cambridge graduate Errollyn Wallen.

We are thrilled to welcome John Butt to conduct a program of sacred and secular music by Handel performed by the Cambridge University Chamber Choir and our own Collegium Musicum, led by Margaret Faultless, as well as members of both the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Experience Ensemble.
