Dr MacDougal works in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics in Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge. In her current project on voice similarity she is investigating the role of individual differences in theories of speech production, and applications of phonetics in the forensic domain. She has also worked on the reliability of earwitness evidence.
Professor Moore has published extensively on the psychology of hearing and is in charge of the Auditory Perception Group at the University’s Department of Psychology. His research interests include the perception of sound, the mechanisms of normal hearing and hearing impairments, the perception of music and musical instruments.
This event will consider how we hear and mishear, and how the ways in which we interpret correctly -- or wrongly -- what we hear.
It is followed by a reception for the audience and speakers
