Through fun activities like this, Cambridge History for Schools gets kids thinking critically about the past. Here we are using rose petals to make sherbet according to an early modern Ottoman recipe.

Grand designs: history workshop for kids

Sat 7 May 2016

Faculty of History, Cambridge University

Grand Designs: 17th-Century Colonial Houses. For ages 7-11.

Have you ever imagined building your own ‘dream home’?

This workshop explores the homes British colonists built when they settled in parts of Ireland, the Carribean and Virginia.

How did they adapt to environments that were new to them?

And how did their homes differ from those of people who had been living in those lands long before the British ever arrived?

Join us to explore these questions and more as we have a go at creating some of our own grand designs!

When: Saturday 7 May
Time: 11am - 12.30pm
Where: History Faculty Building, University of Cambridge, West Rd, Cambridge, CBE 9EF
To book: email admin@hist.cam.ac.uk or call 01223 335340
