The pirates of Penzance
Wed 5 February 2014 - Sat 8 February 2014
West Road Concert Hall
The Cambridge University Gilbert & Sullivan Society proudly presents its Lent 2014 Mainshow: The Pirates of Penzance. The classic comic opera comes this February to West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge's premiere music venue.
21-year-old pirate apprentice Frederic has just been freed from his indentures to the Pirates of Penzance. Guided by his unshakeable sense of duty, Frederic finds a new calling: the eradication of piracy. He also finds love, in the person of the enchanting Mabel. But the pirates aren't ready to let their former apprentice off the hook quite so easily.
One of the most famous and best-loved comic operas ever written, The Pirates of Penzance features Gilbert's trademark wit and some of Sullivan's most beautiful music. Come join our vivacious heroine, our earnest and dutiful hero, and a crop of not-so-ruthless pirates, not-so-fearless policemen, and not-so-helpless young maidens for a swashbuckling and hilarious adventure.
Pirates is great fun for all ages. Families with tickets to the Saturday matinée may sign up to attend a post-show tea and biscuits reception with the cast. Group packages are also available. For details regarding either offer, email westroadpirates@gmail.com.
Cost: £19, £17, £12, £10, £6
