Sounds Green V: Simply Reeds
Wed 30 July 2014
Botanic Garden
Established in 1996, the saxophone and clarinet quartet, Simply Reeds, quickly acquired an excellent reputation for performing to the highest standard, whether playing at private functions or giving public recitals. The diverse repertoire is further enhanced by the versatility of the individual musicians.
The finely-honed sound of Simply Reeds has come as a result of the original and unique arrangements of Jon Halton and Graham Dolby. The ever-expanding repertoire of over 300 titles encompasses a wide variety of styles from light Classical and Baroque music through to swing, jazz, and modern pop music.
Sounds Green informal picnic proms start at 6.15pm every Wednesday in July, offering an hour of music to listen to in the glorious surroundings of the Botanic Garden. Do bring along a small folding chair or cushion to sit on – and check the weather forecast to see if a brolly and raincoat may be required for the English summer!
The Garden Café will be offering a Terrace BBQ, weather permitting, with delicious antipasti and fresh strawberries also available on the Main Lawn. You are also welcome to bring a picnic, or even get up and dance!
Cost: £4.50, £3.95, free.
