The singing ladies of Ferrara - a concert with Musicke in the Ayre
Tue 6 September 2016
University Church
Songs for up to three sopranos from early 17th century Italy. Music written by Luzzaschi for a trend-setting female trio in the court of Ferrara form the core of this programme. This famed "Concerto delle donne" made quite a stir, and we include works by Rossi, Caccini and Monteverdi who would have taken note of it all.
Musicke in the Ayre:
Paula Downes, Caroline Hunter, Alison Summers (sopranos)
Din Ghani (archlute)
Cost: Free entry, retiring collection
