Tomorrow, today - learn & practise self-build cob
Mon 28 April 2014 - Fri 2 May 2014
NW Cambridge Development Site
Tomorrow,Today is an ambitious public art project by artists Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie. Their idea is to use the ancient sustainable technique of cob building to create a ‘model village of the future’ – a walk through (80 metre square) scale model of the paths, houses and shops planned for the future North West Cambridge Development. The cob model will remain in situ for at least a year, probably longer and will eventually be infilled, with the possibility of bemusing archaelogists of the future.
Course participants will receive masterclass tuition from a cob expert as well as talks from Nina and Karen about their work and from the Cambridge University Archaeology Unit on the ancient history of the site we will be working on. Cobbing is physically demanding but also lots of fun. Expect to get muddy! There will be nourishing lunches and splendid teas. All tools and equipment provided we just ask you to wear comfortable clothing and wellington boots.
We are offering 6 courses for a maximum of 12 participants each week.
Please note we will be working on the May Bank Holidays.
