Sounds Green IV: Steppin' Out
Wed 23 July 2014
Botanic Garden
Steppin' Out are a dynamic jazz quintet based in West Yorkshire. They are all graduates of the prestigious Leeds College of Music and formed in 2012. The band members have a wealth of experience, having performed at major events and venues across the UK and Europe - these include SoundWave Festival (Croatia), Cork International Jazz Festival & the Royal Albert Hall, amongst others.
The band consists of Simon Dennis (Trumpet), Andrew Cox (Saxophone), Harry Orme (Electric Guitar), Tom Maddison (Double Bass) and Tom Hawthorn (Drums). The band are fluent in a broad range of settings and styles, from traditional New Orleans music and imaginatively arranged jazz standards through to contemporary pop tunes and original compositions.
Sounds Green informal picnic proms start at 6.15pm every Wednesday in July, offering an hour of music to listen to in the glorious surroundings of the Botanic Garden. Do bring along a small folding chair or cushion to sit on – and check the weather forecast to see if a brolly and raincoat may be required for the English summer!
The Garden Café will be offering a Terrace BBQ, weather permitting, with delicious antipasti and fresh strawberries also available on the Main Lawn. You are also welcome to bring a picnic, or even get up and dance!
Cost: £4.50, £3.95, free
