Indigenous film, art and activism: counter-cartographies of the Amazon

This one-day symposium explores the relationship between film, art, and activism in the Amazon. Along with in-person discussions by international speakers, the programme includes a number of contemporary Amazonian films made by Indigenous creators who are using film to amplify their voices and contest historical marginalisation.

Building collections. Changing ideas of art at the Museo de Arte de Lima

Tue 29 January 2019

Robinson College

This talk will be given by Professor Natalia Majluf, Simón Bolívar Chair at the Centre of Latin American Studies. It is planned that the talk will explore the work undertaken by the team at the Museo de Arte de Lima in expanding its collections to cover previously unexplored chapters of the history of art. As a broad survey museum that shows art in Peru from the pre-Columbian era to the present, the museum faces a significant challenge in attempting to form a representative collection that can account for the region's cultural diversity.

There will be time for discussion and questions after the talk.
