HAVE YOUR SAY: How Can Patient Data Improve Healthcare?

Mon 29 April

online

10:30 - 12:00

Our team will introduce you to the Secure Data Environment which is being created for research, using NHS data in the East of England region. We will explain why it’s needed, how it can help improve people’s health and well-being, what we will do to keep the data secure, and how you can get involved. Attendees will be able to type their questions and comments using the Q&A function during the webinar. Members of our team will be on hand to reply.

You will be offered payment for your time and contribution to the workshop discussions.

13:00 - 14:00

Workshop A - "What makes research safe & worthwhile?"

In this workshop, we will discuss how we will determine whether a project has the potential to improve public health, and what assurances and safeguards need to be in place for a researcher to be granted access. There will be a choice of three workshops from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Please remember that you will only be able to choose a single workshop.

13:00 - 14:00

Workshop B - "Who should make decisions about accessing the SDE, and how?"

In this workshop, we will discuss various aspects related to the decision-making process of the access of SDE among its intended users. When considering approval or denial of a request to access the SDE, the Data Access Committee should ask a variety of questions to ensure optimum and responsible access to the SDE. There will be a choice of three workshops from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Please remember that you will only be able to choose a single workshop.

13:00 - 14:00

Workshop C - "How should we manage opting out of the SDE?"

In this workshop, we will discuss what people's concerns might be around having their data in the SDE. We will also explore what it means to opt out, and the consequences of doing so. We will also talk about how the SDE team can let people know that opting out of the research is an option, and the potential impacts, as well as how to make sure the process is simple and transparent. There will be a choice of three workshops from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Please remember that you will only be able to choose a single workshop.
