Dr Jenna Dittmar is a Research Associate and the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and a Junior Research Fellow at Darwin College. Since she arrived in 2012 to purse a PhD in Biological Anthropology, she has been actively involved in the rowing community. During her time as a student, she rowed for Newnham College Boat Club (W1) and CUWBC, before becoming a coach for Newnham College Boat Club in 2015. Prior to coming to Cambridge, Jenna participated in athletics at the collegiate level and had a long career as a professional sled dog racer.
Through a discussion of the scientific literature and personal anecdotes from her experiences as an athlete and a coach, Dr. Jenna Dittmar discusses how women’s participation and leadership in sport leads to the empowerment of women both on the playing field, and off.
