Women in cartography
Wed 23 October 2019
Cambridge University Library
The role of women in map production and publishing has often been overlooked or trivialised. See some fantastic examples of their output from the 17th century to today, and track how cartography and attitudes have changed.
The University Library's Map Department holds over 1.2 million maps and atlases, and the collection includes early printed and manuscript maps through to modern resources including Ordnance Survey digital map data. From this vast collection maps made, published or sold by women have been specially selected.
This event is part of The Rising Tide: Women at Cambridge programme of exhibitions and events.
