This lecture series is funded by a bequest from Mrs J.W. Adam, widow of William Arrol Adam, who read Chemistry at Fitzwilliam Hall from 1901 to 1905. The connection is appropriate for Adam went on to serve during the war as a captain in the South Staffordshire Regiment. He was awarded a campaign medal for service in France in 1915.
