Lucy Cavendish Singers: In Good Company
Sun 23 June 2019
Sidney Sussex College
Lucy Cavendish Singers
Director Katharina Megli
With Lucy Bunce (harp), Ivan Garford (double bass)
Join the Singers and their musicians for a delicious hour of music for a summer’s evening, when ‘music … shall all your cares beguile’ (Purcell’s Music for a while).
The programme of classical and traditional pieces will include Irish composer Michael McGlynn’s celtic-inspired 'Jerusalem' in which the choir surrounds the audience, immersing them in 360 degrees of sound; and 'Stars' by Latvian composer ?riks Ešenvalds, which is accompanied by the ethereal sound of water-tuned wine glasses. Argentinian composer Carlos Guastavino, known as the 'Schubert of the Pampas' for his simple yet intense melodies, will also be featured.
All proceeds from this concert will go to support the work of the Cambridge City Foodbank. The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.
Cost: £15 (£7.50 students and children)
