Confessions of a classical journalist in the Thatcher age. What role do Classics play outside the academy?
To be the mark of the radical, the conservative, the controversialist, the con-artist?
This is a very personal lecture about how we use our Latin and Greek once we leave the lecture halls.
Sir Peter Stothard is Editor of the TLS and the author of three books of diaries; Thirty Days, On the Spartacus Road and Alexandria, the Last Nights of Cleopatra.
From 1992 to 2002 he was Editor of The Times and in 2012 President of the Classical Association and chairman of judges of the Man Booker Prize for fiction.
From 1969 - 1973 he read Greats at Trinity College, Oxford, where he is an Honorary Fellow.
