Global poetries: the work of the editor, a discussion with With Sarah Howe, Eve Lacey and Preti Taneja. Nowadays new technologies raise political and aesthetic questions about global literatures - questions of medium and audience that are particularly urgent where poetry is concerned. When ephemeral modes of creativity are so abundant, how (if at all) can texts and people manage to connect? Join two figures developing innovative ways of curating and disseminating poetry, in Cambridge and beyond, for a discussion about the gathering, editing, transmission and archiving of texts. Preti Taneja is the Editor and co-founder of Visual Verse, an online anthology of art and words (www.visualverse.org), which in its first year has attracted contributions from all over the world, from Booker nominees to previously unpublished writers. Eve Lacey recently edited Furies, an anthology of contemporary women's poetry, published by For Books’ Sake in aid of Rape Crisis England & Wales, which was compiled following an open call for submissions that attracted over 700 entires from across the globe.
