Social Movements, Protest & Dissent in India - A film series at the Centre of South Asian Studies

WEEK 2 - Contesting the State: Insurgency & Secessionism

TALES FROM THE MARGINS (Kavita Joshi, 2006; 23mins)
- A film about Manipuri women struggling for justice in a strife-torn corner of India.

AFSPA 1958 (Haobam Paban Kumar, 2006; 78mins)
- A film about the Armed Forces Special Powers Act – a deeply controversial law used to fight insurgency in North East India.

The screenings are open to all and will be held in the meeting room of the Centre of Latin American Studies (directly beneath the Centre of South Asian Studies, in the Alison Richard Building, West Road). All screenings begin at 6pm on Thursday. Wine and soft drinks are served during the screenings.
